I've only had one class so far, but I'll probably do a blog on the second class.Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18378188552721155005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-655644156845480345.post-23673837831100715162010-03-10T10:53:21.812-05:002010-03-10T10:53:21.812-05:00I enjoyed reading this. We weren't taught to icing-skim and refrigerate first to eliminate crumbs (but it makes perfect sense and I'll certainly be doing that!). I'm going to just learn the basics, then fine-tune what works (and doesn't) for me. And this will take a lot of experimenting over time. You know? Best of luck to all Sandyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15801032599898459529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-655644156845480345.post-89267466217620690162009-06-18T20:28:17.459-04:002009-06-18T20:28:17.459-04:00I honestly don't get the buttercream issues. Yuck.

I know about crumb coating a cake but it hasn't really been brought up in class. I did do that this week though. I didn't have as much trouble as some others in the class, but it still annoyed me that I could see crumbs.Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18378188552721155005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-655644156845480345.post-1325634366801824072009-06-15T13:56:55.233-04:002009-06-15T13:56:55.233-04:00And you know what the even sadder thing is? When you go to a bakery and try to actually order a real buttercream and have to explain to them that you want them to use actual BUTTER and not shortening and they just look at you funny.

When did buttercream stop containing butter?!?

Also, I don't know if they mentioned this in your class, but when I go to ice, I do a real Tinohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07230553378930796656noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-655644156845480345.post-10893985326289932012009-06-14T21:21:53.150-04:002009-06-14T21:21:53.150-04:00what are those flowers covering?
